The Friendly Fork Kitchen at the New Quay Inn
Most of Teignmouth’s food sits on the front or in the streets behind it. The Friendly Fork Kitchen works from the New Quay Inn, the Grade II listed building on New Quay Street that faces Back Beach and the Teign instead.

The inn went up around 1820, when the New Quay itself was built to ship Haytor granite down the estuary. The kitchen is a separate food business in that same building: hearty plates for people eating in, collecting food, or ordering delivery. Sunday roast is on the regular list, and dishes such as shrimp with bread and salad come off the same pass. The kitchen’s own description is simple: food with the water in view, including the evening light across the estuary.
That split is useful if you are looking for a meal rather than only a pint. The pub around it still does what a Back Beach local does: all-day opening, music on some nights, seats looking at the boats and the sand. The food operation has its own name, its own listing, and a Facebook page that carries current menus.
You reach it on foot from the Point, the Back Beach walk or the short cut down from the town streets toward the water. There is no need to treat it as a dressed-up night out. It is a plate in a working inn at the old quay, with the estuary as the thing you look at while you eat.
Menus and opening notes go up on the kitchen’s Facebook page, which is also the contact point if you want to check what is on before you walk down.
