Local Scoop in Teignmouth
The cabinet of handmade gelato that has drawn people to Dawlish since 2020 is about to have a second home. Local Scoop opens its Teignmouth shop on Friday 23 October, bringing the same small-batch scoops, waffles and sundaes to the town for the weekend trade.

Jack Martin and Emma Ireland started the original parlour at 7 Piermont Place in Dawlish during the first Covid lockdown. They make the gelato themselves using fresh Devonshire milk and cream, turning out dense, lower-fat scoops that sit at a warmer temperature than standard ice cream.
Flavours rotate with the seasons; a vegan dark chocolate sorbet took Gold at the Food Drink Devon awards in 2023, with silvers for others including salted honey and pistachio. The Dawlish shop has held a five-star hygiene rating.
The Teignmouth shop will open Friday to Sunday, 11am to 9pm. That matches the pattern of their existing weekend deliveries into the town.
In-store the offer is the same dessert parlour menu: cones, tubs, waffles and croffles made to order, shakes, sundaes, and warm bakes with a scoop. Vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options are part of the regular cabinet. Coffee and teas sit alongside.
Six years after the Dawlish opening, the second shop is the next step for a family-run business that already supplies the area. It sits on Regent Street in Teignmouth. Current notes and any further address detail will appear on the Facebook page and website. For anyone already familiar with the Dawlish scoops, or anyone looking for something beyond the usual seaside ice cream, the Teignmouth counter opens Friday, 23 October 2026.
